Our Specialty Contact Lens Options
Not everyone’s eyes are suited for standard soft contacts. Eye conditions, previous surgeries, or high prescriptions can make specialty designs a better option.
We provide specialty contact lenses designed to bring comfort and clarity to patients who once thought contacts were not an option:
Scleral lenses are larger, rigid gas permeable lenses that rest on the white part of the eye rather than directly on the cornea. They create a fluid-filled space over the cornea that can help maintain moisture and improve comfort.
Scleral lenses can provide clear, stable vision for patients with keratoconus, irregular corneas, corneal conditions, or severe dry eye who may not achieve comfortable vision with traditional contact lenses.
Hybrid lenses combine a rigid gas permeable centre with a soft outer skirt. This design can provide the sharp, stable vision of a rigid lens while offering the comfort of a soft lens.
Hybrid lenses may be an option for patients who need more precise vision correction but find traditional rigid lenses difficult to tolerate.
Orthokeratology lenses are specially designed rigid lenses worn overnight to gently reshape the cornea while you sleep. This can provide clear vision during the day without glasses or daytime contact lenses.
Ortho-k is also commonly used as part of myopia management for children and teens, helping slow the progression of nearsightedness while providing daytime freedom from corrective lenses.
GP lenses are small, firm lenses made from materials that allow oxygen to reach the cornea. Their rigid surface can provide crisp, stable vision for patients with complex prescriptions, astigmatism, or certain corneal conditions.
They may also be considered when soft contact lenses cannot provide the level of visual clarity or fit a patient needs.
Custom soft contact lenses are designed for patients whose vision or eye shape requires more specialized correction than a standard soft lens can provide. These lenses can accommodate certain high prescriptions, uncommon eye shapes, and other individual visual needs.
A customized fitting helps ensure the lens provides clear vision while remaining comfortable on the eye.
Therapeutic contact lenses are used as part of medical treatment to protect the surface of the eye and support healing. Bandage contact lenses may be used after certain injuries, procedures, or episodes of severe surface irritation.
Amniotic membrane biological bandages may also be used when additional support is needed for healing damaged or diseased eye tissue. These treatments are prescribed and monitored based on the specific condition of the eye.
